Description
Block M is one of the most high-stress areas for vines on the Melville estate. Direct exposure to the cold Pacific Ocean winds, intense sun, and unwelcoming soils all combine to create an unforgiving environment for the vines. This causes the clusters and the grapes themselves to be far smaller and more concentrated, producing a rich and full-bodied Pinot Noir. On release there were notes of brandied cherries, blackcurrants, toasted nori, soy, and cinnamon. Now, over ten years since release the tannins have softened and the wine is showing savoury tertiary notes alongside the plush fruit.
