Description

Conditions throughout the 2013 growing season in the Napa Valley were excellent, making for yet another classic vintage. A timely bud break and steady flowering were followed by even fruit set and a long stretch of warm days and cool nights. Dry weather throughout the growing season created excellent harvest conditions, allowing fruit to be picked at optimal maturity and balance. Grapes for this vintage were selected from some of the best sites in the Napa Valley, including Howell Mountain, Stags Leap, Oakville, Atlas Peak and our own vineyards on the Silverado Bench.

The nose is filled with intense notes of dark chocolate layered over inky dark berry compote. The wine hits the palate with striking power and breadth from massive tannins balanced with savoury, sweet fruit flavours that include blackberry, blueberry liqueur, and black currant. The finish maintains depth and adds even more polish, evolving and delighting with its remarkable length. The generous, plush mouthfeel, tannins and exceptional balance of power and elegance will allow the wine to age for decades.

Scored 100 points by Robert M. Parker on October 28th 2016.

"This could well turn out to be the greatest wine ever made at the Louis Martini Winery and that is saying something. It has at least 30-50+ years of aging potential and is clearly a compelling effort from this historic and iconic winery in Napa." - Robert M. Parker.
