Undoubtedly one of the hidden gems on Howell Mountain, the 23-acre Cold Springs Vineyard is the realization of owner Marc Mondavi’s dream to strike out on his own. Teaming up with his long-time friend and revered vineyard manager, Jim Barbour, they have created an outstanding mountain vineyard site. Located above the fog line with a southwest exposure, the rocky topsoil is made up of red and brown loam with pockets of iron-rich volcanic ash, limestone and rhyolite. This intricate mixture of soils produces Cabernet Sauvignon grapes with exquisite complexity and flavour.
