Description
The 2016 Paramour from Blackbird Vineyards is a beautifully composed Napa Valley red blend, reflecting the estate’s origins as a Merlot-focused vineyard in the Oak Knoll District. The name Blackbird itself has a poetic connection to Merlot, derived from the Occitan word ‘merlau’, meaning little blackbird, a fitting reference to the grape’s deep colour and the character that lies at the heart of the estate.
Cabernet Franc takes the lead in this full-bodied blend, bringing together rich fruit, earthy complexity and finely detailed structure. The nose reveals inviting savoury and earthy aromas, while the palate is concentrated and generous, with ripe dark fruit supported by tight-grained tannins.
Despite its power, the wine retains an appealing suppleness and balance, leading to a long, polished finish. Elegant yet substantial, the 2016 Paramour is a distinctive expression of Napa Valley, combining the richness of the region with the refined character of Cabernet Franc.
