Donelan refer to Cuvée Christine as their “gateway drug to Syrah.” A carefully judged blend of the finest parcels from across Sonoma, it is a heady wine whose flavours run the full gamut, encompassing fruit, spice, and savoury notes — there truly is something for everyone here. Its quality-to-price ratio is exceptional.
On the nose, the wine shows mulberry, blood orange, white flowers, and freshly ground coffee. The palate offers not only impressive length but also great breadth, with round, supple tannins and a long finish that lasts more than 45 seconds. Whole-cluster fermentation gives the wine structure and backbone without making it overly firm.
