From the same remarkable 17-acre vineyard in Paso Robles’ Willow Creek District, this Grenache shows a more lifted and expressive side of the estate. The vines are planted within 100 acres of native oak forest, in a deep calcareous valley formed from ancient marine deposits. Close proximity to the Pacific Ocean and dramatic day-to-night temperature swings give the fruit both concentration and freshness, while the limestone-rich soils bring a distinctive mineral character.
The 2019 Grenache combines ripe red and dark berry fruit with fragrant notes of wild strawberry, raspberry and plum, alongside violet, dried herbs and warm spice. There is generosity and depth on the palate, but also a freshness that keeps the wine energetic rather than heavy. Fine tannins give it shape, while a savoury, mineral edge adds complexity through the long finish.
Levo’s philosophy is deliberately restrained: careful farming followed by a light-touch approach in the cellar, allowing the vineyard and variety to speak for themselves. Here, that approach gives Grenache both power and refinement, with the warmth of Paso Robles balanced by Willow Creek’s cool nights and Pacific influence.
