Description
The 2020 Michael David Rapture Cabernet Sauvignon is a bold, captivating wine that has become something of a legend in Lodi. Crafted from 83% Cabernet Sauvignon and 17% Petite Sirah, it's a powerful expression of the region's rich terroir. The warm climate of the Mokelumne River AVA, with its deep Tokay sandy loam soils, creates grapes packed with intense flavour, and this wine is no exception. On the nose, Rapture delivers tantalizing aromas of blackberry cobbler, coffee bean, nutmeg, and clove. On the palate, expect layers of ripe summer berries, Mission fig, dark chocolate truffle, and a hint of cedar, all framed by a lingering finish from 16 months of aging in French oak.
Now, as for the story behind the name, it may be totally untrue, but the rumour is that Rapture was the first wine in a trilogy meant to represent the three stages of pleasure. First came "Rapture" (self-explanatory), followed by "Joy" (when things calm down a bit), and finally, "Satisfaction." But here's the twist - Michael & David never made the third wine. Why? Because you can't get no... well, you know the rest.
