Description
The Estate Pinot Noir is a wonderfully detailed expression of Alexana’s Dundee Hills vineyard, bringing together fruit from twelve different Pinot Noir clones, including the celebrated La Tache clone, and an extraordinary eighteen soil types within a single estate. This diversity gives the wine remarkable depth and complexity, while retaining the elegance and precision that define Alexana’s approach to Pinot Noir.
Winemaker Tresider Burns takes a restrained approach in the cellar, allowing the character of the vineyard to remain at the heart of the wine. The result is beautifully layered, with generous black cherry, blueberry and acai fruit balanced by a more savoury character that emerges towards the finish. Notes of forest floor add a touch of earthiness and complexity, giving the wine a lovely sense of place.
There is a wonderful combination of concentration and freshness here, with fine tannins and bright acidity providing structure without taking away from the wine’s natural generosity. Already drinking beautifully, it has the depth and balance to develop gracefully with time.
