Description
The 2022 Keplinger Solitaire is a beautifully site-expressive Syrah from the renowned Truchard Vineyard in Carneros, crafted by winemaker Helen Keplinger. The vineyard’s cool climate and distinctive volcanic and clay soils lend the wine a compelling combination of dark fruit, savoury complexity and freshness. Aromas of blackberry and dark plum are complemented by cracked pepper, violet, spice and subtle mineral notes.
The palate is rich and concentrated, yet finely balanced, with supple, muscular tannins providing structure while a vibrant thread of freshness keeps the generous fruit beautifully defined. Savoury and mineral nuances emerge through the mid-palate, leading to a long, persistent finish of dark fruit, pepper and spice. A distinctive expression of Syrah that combines the depth and intensity of California with the freshness and savoury character of its cool-climate Carneros site.
