The nose is richly layered, offering black cherry, blackberry and ripe plum alongside violets, cracked black pepper, smoked meat and dark chocolate. Powerful and full-bodied on the palate, the wine retains a remarkable sense of freshness, with fine, muscular tannins providing structure and keeping the generous fruit beautifully focused. Savoury notes of olive, spice and graphite emerge through the mid-palate, leading into a long, warming finish of dark fruit, pepper and mineral.
