Description
The 2022 Millennium from La Motte is a classic South African interpretation of a Bordeaux-style red blend, bringing together fruit from vineyards in Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek. Led by Merlot, with Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot adding structure and complexity, the wine combines generous fruit with refined oak and beautifully balanced tannins.
Aromas of ripe blackberry and plum lead into inviting notes of fruit cake and dark toffee, while twelve months in French oak adds subtle hints of clove and charred oak. The palate is medium-full and supple, with rich dark fruit balanced by lively acidity and soft, polished tannins.
As the wine develops, a savoury character emerges alongside the lingering berry fruit, giving the finish both depth and freshness. Versatile and beautifully approachable, the 2022 Millennium is equally at home with red meat and roasts, hearty winter dishes or simply enjoyed by the glass.
