Description
The 2023 Keplinger Eldorado is an elegant white blend of Viognier, Grenache Blanc and Roussanne, drawing fruit from the exceptional high-elevation vineyards of Shake Ridge and Goldbud. Both sites are characterised by red volcanic soils and meticulous farming, with the Viognier grown on a north-facing slope at Ann Kraemer’s Shake Ridge Vineyard, while the Roussanne and Grenache Blanc come from Ron Mansfield’s dry-farmed, head-trained vines at Goldbud.
Delicate yet vibrant, the wine opens with crushed white stones, lemon verbena, white fig, white peach and orange blossom. The palate is silky and beautifully pure, combining white fig, flax, lemon verbena and propolis with fine, textural crushed-rock minerality. Fresh acidity provides energy and definition, leading to a long, graceful finish. Fermented and aged separately in concrete, French oak and neutral oak, the wines spent 18 months on their lees before bottling, bringing together freshness, texture and remarkable finesse.
