Description
Rodney Strong was among the first to recognise the Russian River Valley as an ideal place to plant Pinot Noir. The River West Vineyard is located on Westside Road, on a low riverside bench, in the far northern end of the Russian River Valley.
The terrain is gently sloping and beautifully diverse, allowing each block to highlight the unique characteristics of this varietal. 2024 started with some heavy rainfall, delaying bud break slightly. Moving into summer things stayed dry and mild, with very few heat spikes.
This gave the grapes some additional time on the vines to gain complexity and concentration, without losing their freshness.Expect notes of raspberry, sour cherry, and ripe red cherry with hints of baking spice and fresh-baked pastry.
